Rescue Cats & Heaven Cat Wait Ottawa Valley Cat Rescue

Cat's Paradise Spa and Boarding Retreat supports local rescue groups  in the Ottawa Valley including Heaven Can Wait Ottawa Valley Cat Rescue that is run out of Natural Pet Foods in Carleton Place. Currently we are helping to find homes for cats and kittens from the local pound in Carleton Place (just outside Ottawa) exclusively. Because the shelter never runs out of cats for us to help out we do not take on owner surrenders. However, we will post courtesy photos (see below). Our small group of staff are very dedicated cat-lovers who do all they can to help out needy cats. We are non-profit group that tries to fundraise for cat charities while finding wonderful furr'ever homes for cats and kittens in the Ottawa Valley.

How to Contact Heaven Can Wait Ottawa Valley Cat Rescue:

  • You can also call Debbie at (613) 257-3232

  • You can call (613) 253-7387 OR (613) 256-8833 and ask for Hana

If you can’t adopt a cat or kitten you can still help out by donating cat food or litter items for the shelter cats at Natural Pet Foods shop. You can do this by dropping into Natural Pet Foods either in Ottawa (at 339 Churchill Avenue North) or in Carleton Place (at 61 Bridge Street) See: www.naturalpetfoods.ca for directions or call 613-253-PETS or 613-321-7282.

Lastly, you can help by supporting the local fundraising for the shelter so that we can purchase new cat runs and cover the costs of vaccinations and spay/neuters for the cats. Donations can be made at the shop or directly at the shelter.

Our wish list include:

  • baby blankets, bowls, litter, cat food etc for foster homes, the pound and our HCW orphanage facility at Natural Pet Foods in Carleton Place

A Big Hug & Purr Goes Out to BARK Rescue:

BARK rescue group has been supportive of Heaven Can Wait Ottawa Valley Cat Rescue (HCW) since we began! A big thank you goes out to Sharon and all the gang at BARK that has kindly donated throughout the year including any Christmas toys they are collecting from across Ottawa.

Cats and Kittens Up for Adoption:

Currently, we have two great kittens for adoption. They are both boys and have received thier first set of  innoculations, are treated for parasites. Adoption fee: $60

Currently we have a wonderful female cat up for adoption: Lexi is a fun-loving tabby that is around one year old. She is fully vaccinated and on parasite control and has been spayed. She is a great cat and just waiting for a home to entertain! Adoption fee: $125

CATS UP FOR ADOPTION:

The cats featured below are NOT part of the Heaven Can Wait Ottawa Valley Rescue. We have listed them as a courtesy to owners having to give up their pets or for people that have taken in a stray.

The Mouch:

This cat was lost and was found in Almonte by a lady who is currently looking after him at her home. He is very affectionate. He has been outside and have heard about him for over a month so she had to help him out. Maybe someone will finally seek him if he does not come home. He is about 3 yrs , looks neutered., in good shape 14-16 pounds , no fleas etc but a mystery to several callers to me seeing him in fields, yards etc for weeks and out in cold.  He has been named The Mouch!!! Looks more like  a FAWN orange tabby. If you think this may be your cat please call Linda 257-7617 in order to visit "The Mouch".

Kittens:

The following two calico's were rescued by Judith. They are gorgeous little kittens and are about 6 months old. They have received their first set of vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting these two kitties please contact Judith directly:

EVENTS:

Doggie Birthday Parties Help Cats

If you are planning to host a birthday party for your pooch, please consider having it at Natural Pet Foods in Carleton Place store (61 Bridge Street). We have a 1500 square foot doggie cafe where you host your party for free!

In order to raise funds for Heaven Can Wait Ottawa Valley cat rescue, we simply ask that you purchase one people cake and one doggie cake (feeds 8 people/pets). 100% of the proceeds go to the cat rescue. You can order more then one cake if you are expecting a larger crowd. We will provide all plates, streamers, balloons, loot bags for the pups and party hats. This is a great way for canines to help the homeless feline population.

Our delicious dog cakes are baked by none other then Debbie Steckly of Pampered Pups Pastries. All the Carleton Place pooches know that Debbie is an amazing baker extraordinaire. Check out the photos of her pup-cakes below. If you want to check out her site, visit: http://www.pamperedpupspastries.netfirms.com/news.html

She also has a great cat page at: http://www.pamperedpupspastries.netfirms.com/cats.html

Photo at left is of the Peanut Butter Party Cake. This is a  de-lick-ious cake that serves up to 8 of your dog's droolin' friends. Ingredients are whole wheat flour, carrot & peanut butter, vanilla, veg oil, organic honey and egg. The frosting ingredients are low-fat cream cheese, vanilla, organic honey and cinnamon. YUM!

The Banana Party Cake is my favorite. Ingredients are banana, egg, butter, whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda and cinnamom. Our frosting ingredients are non-fat cream cheese, vanilla and organic honey.

Generosity of Community Gives Paws for Thought!!

Our silent auction benefiting the homeless cats was a great success!! I am very happy to report that our silent auction event raised over $1350 for our rescue program. A big thank-you to everyone in the community that so generously contributed. The money raised from this event will be used for the veterinary care of rescued cats, as well as going towards a fund for new cages for the shelter.

A Big Hug and Purr

A big thank you goes out to everyone in the community that has been donating food for the shelter and all five families that adopted kittens from our program the last month. The community has been very supportive and all the eight kittens are doing well in their new homes.

Thanks to Our Fellow Cat-Lovers at the Cats Den

Kris at the Cats Den has graciously setup out current Cats Den unit in the shop at Carleton Place. This demo unit has helped over forty cats and kittens get adopted from the local shelter this year alone. A big purr and meow goes out to Kris from all the kitties!! Some of the setup are below:

Nanuck - 3 yr old Siberian Husky

Nanuck is a beautiful three year old copper Husky that is looking for a new home. She is extremely gentle and would do well with a family.

Nugget

Is an active young male that would just love a chance to become a family pet. He is a really sweet fellow and would be a great companion on long walks or pet agility sports.

Max

Max is a two year old Jack Russell mix that is good with other dogs and cats. He is housetrained and has had his first set of shots. He would be ideal in a home with adults, no small kids.
